Sola Scriptura: New Neal Morse Album!

Take Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Randy George, and Paul Gilbert... add in a concept album about the Reformation... and what do you get? "Sola Scriptura," the upcoming prog CD by the master himself, Neal Morse!

The release date is set for 3/1/07. Check out the song clips on his site. They sound great!

A quote from the Radiant Records site:

Morse says “I felt as a Christian I should make this album and point out to people that may have forgotten how the church fell away from righteousness in the Dark Ages. The point of it is to point us toward God and his truth and where the church still may have darkness in it, to point her toward the light of God's truth which is laid out wonderfully before us in the scriptures. Of course, this is a lofty goal for a mere CD, but, with God anything is possible!”

WOW!!! What a concept, huh? Two of my favorite things - Neal Morse and the Reformation!

Yeah, it sounds great. They announced that they were working on it back in November. I can't believe I missed it until now!

Anyways, I'll be grabbing a copy for sure.

Dude, let me just say that this album is amazing!!!! Wow! The lyrics are great and seem to catch what Luther must have experienced... I think this may be Neal's best effort yet!

Oh wow... I decided to check into Paul Gilbert's site and saw that he's actually on the G3 2007 tour with Joe Satriani and John Petrucci!!! And they are coming to Myrtle Beach, SC at the end of this month... :) I have to talk my wife into letting me go. We know how much I like Dream Theater and PG on the Morse albums is awesome. And I used to have a cat named Satch!

Chris,
Thanks for the quick review of Neal's new album. Are you going to do a more thorough review on your blog?

Is it mostly fast, or slow, or majestic, or dark, or triumphant or...? Favorite track? Inquiring minds want to know!
